App Compatibility With Sicon v26
- Builds earlier than Sicon Approvals v260.0.9 will require the Gateway.
During the Q&A session following the Sicon Approvals webinar, we explained that we were reviewing whether the mobile app could be made available to customers upgrading to Sicon v26. We are pleased to confirm that this review is now complete, and the answer is yes.
Sicon Approvals Mobile App Updates
- Expenses and Invoices can be approved in the Sicon Approvals App or in the Sicon Hub.
- From Sicon Approvals v260.0.4, we have removed the message saying the app was not compatible - the app worked once it was dismissed, so the message was misleading.
- If Mobile Access is enabled and you are below Sicon v260.0.9, please upgrade or contact support@sicon.co.uk.
- If you do not use the app, simply untick Enable Mobile Service under System Settings, Miscellaneous, Mobile Access.
- If you installed the WAP Gateway with an older version, you'll need to uninstall it when upgrading. To do this, run the original WAP Gateway installer again and choose the Uninstall option.
In recent months, we have made significant enhancements to both the security and compatibility of Sicon Approvals and the Sicon Approvals Mobile App.
Sicon Approvals App Availability In Sicon v26
- Included from Sicon Approvals v260.0.9.
- Mobile access continues after you upgrade.
- Most devices are unaffected, but some users on newer versions of Android see a warning that the app was built for an older operating system. This is covered in Known Issue 21768 (please login to the Sicon Customer or Sicon Partner Portal to access this).
- Requisitions, Timesheets, Holidays and Absence remain available in the Sicon Approvals App.
Sicon Approvals Security Enhancements
The security protection outlined in our August email has now been built directly into Sicon Approvals, meaning customers can benefit from enhanced security as part of the standard solution.
Mobile security is now built into Sicon Approvals
- The compatibility message has gone.
The Sicon Approvals Mobile App now works with Sicon Approvals v26.
- The Sicon Approvals Mobile App will no longer be updated. As our development focus is on expanding the functionality available in Sicon Hub (which in effect will act as a replacement for the app), the Approvals app will not undergo any further development.
- The Sicon Product Release Notes describe this as security enhancements to restrict unauthenticated requests from the mobile app. It is the Sicon WAP Gateway protection, which is built-in, so there is no separate application to install.
- There is no new app to install. The latest Sicon Approvals Mobile App available on the Google and Apple stores (the one many users will already have) works with Sicon Approvals v26.
- This includes Sicon Approvals v22.1.
- This is a change in the Sicon Approvals Service rather than the app itself, so it takes effect when Sicon Approvals is upgraded.
